I wondered if this was a native or exotic helichrysum. Has some similarities to Gunns Everlasting. It was in a creek feeding into Deep Creek Stromlo but those tributaries can be dry for long periods. Jennybach ( still getting used to this system)

If my suggestion is right it is a native species quite common on Mt stromlo

S.campylocarpus has larger involucral bracts i believe, still unusual to see S.quadridentatus in habitat like this
