Are Ledromorpha planirostris and Stenocotis depressa nymphs very similar? The adults of Stenocotis depressa are a lot more common and we should therefore have more Stenocotis depressa nymph sightings. Hmmm...

Yes they are similar see https://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_leafhoppers/BlackFlatHead.htm#:~:text=Nymphs%20are%20pale%20brown%20in,quickly%20around%20the%20tree%20trunk. but I think the central brown markings make this a Ledromorpha nymph see https://tasmanianinsectfieldguide.com/hexapoda/insectsoftasmaniahemiptera/insectsoftasauchenorrhyncha-suborder-auchenorrhyncha/infraorder-cicadomorpha/superfamily-membracoidea/cicadellidae-leafhoppers/subfamily-tartessinae/genus-ledromorpha/

Thanks Michael. I wonder why there are a lot more sightings of Ledromorpha planirostris than Stenocotis depressa nymphs. It seems to be the reverse with adults.

I suspect that there may be some nymphs that we have placed in the wrong place -
