Disused rabbit warrens like this are used to an unknown degree by native reptiles, locally including Shinglebacks, bluetongues and goannas. On the other hand, the disused warrens help the rabbit population recover more rapidly from reductions in abundance, so they are a target for destruction, once the active warrens have been destroyed.
