First CNM recording of an uncommon species.

User's notes

Confirmed on iNat as Fomitopsis maculatissima. An unusual find of a recently renamed fungus. Surprising, as it has been bone dry here for weeks.

@pam thank you! Very lucky, I was foraging pepperberries and it happened to be fruiting on the log I was standing on.

Good day!! Is that Tasmannia lanceolata? A great plant, both berries and leaves. Leave have antimicrobials that help reduce food spoilage as well as other uses..

@pam you betcha! They are having the best year for berries I've ever seen! I didn't know about the antimicrobial uses, though that makes sense as I use them for colds (as well as a delicious seasoning). My boss/friend and I had an excellent day foraging them!
