I know right, i seem to remeber there was some discussion about these a couple years ago where Michael suggested that Red Hill would've once been part of the river corridor down to Yarralumla creek and then onto the Molongolo more broadly. Grevillea juniperiana also grows nearby, which perhaps supports that theory
