This site was previously sprayed for Chilean Needle Grass. Apart the regrowing CNG, there were, and still are germinating from a massive soil seed bank of a range of weeds: Phalaris, Paspalum, Cocksfoot and other exotic grasses as well as Sowthisle, Prickly Lettuce, thistles, Buchan Weed, Wild sage, Flat Weed, Sorrel, Ribwort Plantain and other exotic dicotyledons. FoMM proposed to top this weed-only site with wood chip mulch after the initial CNG treatment to lower the nutrient content and suppress germination of weeds and then follow up by direct seeding native ground cover species into the decomposing mulch. FoMM proofed this concept at various sites with positive results. WE don't believe in spontaneous creation of native ground cover as someone in PCS, who prohibits FoMM to use the successful mulching tool.
