@ibaird It looks similar to Micrerethista nigrapex but I can't find any records for it in this area.

Yes, excellent find. I thought it might be in the Tineidae family given the topknot (head), but I clearly overlooked this species. The ALA and iNaturalist photos suggests the species has a widespread Eastern Australian distribution, but there don't seem to be many photo records yet online for this species.
