User's notes

GPSed. Was very windy making it difficult to get good pics. Flowers ~ 25mm across? Plant heights say 40-50cm. Basal leaves very hairy. Seems to be the dominant Wahlenbergia in this part of the site. Guesstimate at least 1000 plants, within say 60m+ radius of GPS point, in this part of the "south" paddock. I note free lobes of the flower look like they are less than 4 times as long as the tube as opposed to the characteristic >4x length - so my other guess would be W. graniticola.

I'm pretty happy with W. planiflora, it matches that species well to me, this doesn't look right for W. graniticola to me either, I don't get the vibe that this is the right habitat for it either. Wait to see what Ciaran has to say.

I would say W.stricta I think, the calyx lobes are too big and lack the blunt tips of W.planiflora. Agree that we can discount W.granticola

Yeah - I also keyed it to stricta

Thanks guys. Good to know that it's W. stricta and to have another Wahlenbergia species added to the list for this site. Note the style/stigma appears to protrude just above the flower tube (see 2nd & 3rd pics) which from LUCID factsheet (https://apps.lucidcentral.org/plants_se_nsw/text/entities/wahlenbergia_stricta.htm) is more common with subsp. alterna?
   2 Jan 2024
Yes but alterna is white on the outside of the flower
