To me this moths wing patternand overall shape is consistent with Oncopera (genus). likely O. rufobrunnea. Its recording would be consistent with the cooler and rainy wealtner we are experiencing in SE Australia at present.

Definitely cool and wet here. Right at the moment ... very wet. This moth was quite interesting because it hitched a ride on my hand in the garden and then stayed there happily while I walked to the house, collected the camera, unsuccessfully tried to take photos using my left hand and then condescended to transfer to my left hand and I took photos with my right much more successfully. It was quite difficult to persuade it to vacate the comfort of me and take up residence on a plant.
