Right, ok. So Dianella longifolia is a broad ranging taxon across south eastern Australia that has a number of varities seperated largely based upon localities. Dianella longifolia longifolia is the name that used to apply to plants in the ACT and is still used in some treatments. Dianella sp. aff (benambra) is a name recommended by Geoff Carr that now applies to plants from the southern tablelands and plants from part of Victoria. Hence it has replaced Dianella longifolia as the locally occuring species. The paper has yet to be published, but hopefully diagnostic features will be available soon. For now we are going by Geoff's advice and identifying largely based on distribution.
