User's notes

Another weirdo plant. Single flower left. Very broad, prominently ribbed leaf, 15mm wide x 170mm long. Column arms gently curving, tufts messy.

@MattM I've changed the species on this and other sightings on the advice of Lachlan Copeland, who confirmed these are indeed Thelymitra latifolia, which had been my suspicion for some time after a Thely expert from Vic suggested it on iNat a few years back with strong evidence. There are almost definitely others around locally which are being misidentified.

I'm pretty sure I'm misidentifying a lot of them. Is part of the distinction between latifolia and brevifolia to do with how deeply slit and red the post-anther lobe is?

@MattM yeah, I had a look through and there are a few which definitely look right to me. Lach said the sepals tend to have that white outer edge, and yes, the post-anther lobe is never red, always yellow and a bit more "hoof-like" in appearance.
