Hope you can keep it in protective custody to rear and discover what the adult looks like to maybe get a chance to discover the species.

@donhe I found it lying beneath some Thelymitra flowers, is there a chance it hasn't pupated and had merely retreated inside when I came around? If not, I'll go back and collect it.

Please take it into custody anyway. You could slit it open carefully with nail scissors to see who is doing what inside, and add photos to this sighting. Psychidae larvae are very skilful in repairing their cases. Either way.: please rear it. How will we ever know what larvae, and pupae, develop into if we do not rear them?

@donhe I had never thought of it that way! I come across many case moths, I'll quite happily return to these tomorrow and rear them.
