This was the trout's lucky day - I disturbed a pied cormorant that was sunning itself while intently watching the water. The cormorant flew to the other side of the creek, where I heard the bird dip into the water, and assumed that one fish was a gonna. Then I saw this trout swirl, and lie visibly in the clear water. I wonder how long before this one's time is up . . .
