Significant sighting

ibaird noted:

13 Oct 2023

A new species for CNM 12/10/23. This mainly a tropical and coastal specides but records show it does extend this far south. It may be significant that this record has been recorded at this lattitude in the ACT.

There is a good case for saying this is S, semicalella because this moth shows a dark brown triangle''marking on the inside margin of the forewing towards the tornus which is characteristic of that species.
A new species for CNM if approved. This mainly a tropical and coastal specides but records show it does extend this far south.
Otherwise Strepsicrates (genus).

The photography for this one took a lot of effort in difficult conditions. I think I may actually have ended up lying on the ground to try and get some useful angles. I was still somewhat disappointed with the end quality of the shots but had some different angles to try to help the moderators. It is great that it was worth the effort and thanks to the moderators and to CBN.
