Very likely it was Blakelyi. (I have been checking for Gang gangs and there are occasional overflights (high, direct between BMNR and the suburbs, and by singletons) but no activity in Caladenia Forest.)

These woody 'galls' are difficult to interpret and may not be insect induced, I have cut some open and found nothing.
