This is a waterbug order Hemiptera. If this is an image of it swimming on its back then it is a backswimmer (family Notonectidae) otherwise if it normally swims back up with legs underneath then it is one of the waterboatmen (family Corixidae). Keys to species can be found in the book Australian Water Bugs by Nils M Andersen & Tom A Weir 2004
