It is pretty frost hardy, but tends to grow in difficult dry sunny areas in the ACT, eg in the power line gully on Aranda Hill. I'd say it needs water :-(

Yes I fear it's just become too dry there. There is an old Rough Tree Fern record nearby but I couldn't find it at all.
