Hi Wandiyali, A photo has uploaded of an audio recorder on a tree but I cant see the sound file. Could you try again to upload it please.

This location is a long way from any other modern record (the nearest record in CNM is from 40 years ago) and the nearest CNM record in recent time is very far away. So we need to have the evidence as good as possible.

hi Don, the audio file/s are with the SE LLS 'Koala Karaoke' Audio monitoring Project. There have been nearby koala reports in Jerrabomberra eg a December 2012 report by NPWS.

Hi Wandiyali, thanks, but I'm not sure I understand. I may need you to explain more. And perhaps it will help if I point out that the role of CNM is to record species occurrences based on evidence that a moderator can reasonably agree to. Preferably we store a copy of the audio file or photo, but if it is NPWS or LLS who has these data, are you able to provide a copy of their report(s), or at least a reference for them, as well as the dates, locations and descriptions of the events. Also, I suppose I should point out that there have been some claims for koala calls that turned out to actually be something else, so we prefer the calls (or whatever record) to have been confirmed by someone appropriate.

Hi @Wandiyali, You may not be aware, but there are hundreds of claims for desirable species where they do not occur. Nature Mapper is meant to store only records confirmed by a moderator. So strictly speaking you should provide the audio file for us to hear. I occasionally make exceptions (i.e. break the rule) if a reliable expert says they saw or heard the thing, but so far you haven't given us much for our records e.g. not even your name, much less the identity of the expert who listened to the recordings. So, please tell who, if anyone, has identified the sound file as koala bellowing? Or can you please give a reference to a written report from this project which identifies a koala at this location? Otherwise I have to classify your record as 'inconclusive'?

H Wandiyali - can you remember whether this was on the inside or outside of the fence, and was the fence completed at the time?
