Probably Perameles nasuta, not Isoodon obesulus, the only other bandicoot species recorded locally only in 2002 and 2003. Identification as Perameles due to white upper parts of hind feet. Longer ears of Perameles are not apparent - maybe torn off? Fur colour and tail colour also not diagnostic for Perameles - maybe due to wet and dirty condition? Ear measurement and various teeth and skull measurements can be used to distinguish these genera.

tjwells, I dont suppose you still have the carcass (actually just the head is needed)?

Thanks Don, I can get the carcass if you want to get measurements.

Yes please, if it is still there we can confirm the ID with confidence and maybe donate it to the ANWC collection. I am in O'Connor but can come out to wherever to collect it except I have a lunchtime meeting tomorrow. and a couple of things on Thursday.

Don, what ever species it is this will be a significant sighting as the nearest Bandicoot record to this is from Bendora arboretum.

Hi Don, I have the carcass in a freezer and can bring it in to the Cotter PCS depot tomorrow if that's convenient for you to come and collect?

Yes I can get there after 3pm. I can meet you then or maybe you could leave it there for me.

Hi all commentors, based on dentition, this carcass was certainly a LNB Perameles nasuta.
