User's notes

In secondary grassland, on high transmission power line easement; between 250-300 Sifton bushes in an area of 270square meters; more patches with dense growth around plus scattered Sifton; all fruit bearing Sifton beyond peak seed. Current work to replace timber power poles with concrete poles just a few meters to the north with extreme soil disturbance (2nd and 3rd pic). Close to major conservation (Canberra Spider orchid) site. The dense patch of Sifton recorded here occurs in relatively undisturbed secondary grassland; there was one, may be 5-6 years old Sifton, surrounded by 100s of younger of different ages.

Yes, this does seem to be invasive... must have taken a while to pull or treat all those.
I've read the discussion and seems we should not worry about the odd Sifton bush in undisturbed areas, but only tackle infestations like this one, where the disturbed area is close to a rare wildflowers area.

Thanks Barb.
My worries
1. it seems to have started with the odd one Sifton here and there and then the Sifton number exploded probably helped by the recent LaNina events - I will check whether other dense growth patches in the vicinity have one parent plant and a similar spread pattern
2. the Siftons shown in this record grow in relatively dense native groundcover which may indicate a potential to invade relatively intact bush not only disturbed sites. there are some disturbed sites in the vicinity from previous replacements of power poles and some quite big rabbit warrens.
