User's notes

Belconnen area. Tiny. About 5-6 mm. Saw a few flying around and since have seen a few in webs. Have since found them on the bottom of the ash tree leaves that is directly above this area - photo now included.

I suggest this is not a moth and probably a Greenhouse Whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum

@ibaird - it was right next to several ash trees if that's helpful. A hard to distinguish from it species is apparently Ash Whitefly (Siphoninus phillyeae), and that loves ash, pear etc.

Korinne Sorry can't tell adult Greenhouse whitefly from Ash whitefly and although ash trees are nearby it doesn't look like this is on an ash leaf are there any nymph (scale like) stages around?

@MichaelMulvaney Thanks, I looked tonight on getting home and have uploaded a photo taken with the flash. Yep, they're on the bottom of the ash tree's leaves. That tree literally hangs over the area I was taking photos in, so I probably brushed against something making some of them fly. A website I was looking at suggested that what they're on can confirm whether it's one or the other - would that be true?
