Sighted on various shrubs - are these moth cocoons ?

@Amelia : was this a tea tree (Leptospermum sp.) ? Assuming it was, then this is probably the deterrent web made by the Teatree web moth. If you prise it apart you should be able to see the caterpillars, a couple of which you could rear in captivity to the adult moth for verification of the species.

Thank you donhe, that makes sense - yes on tea trees. I was just amazed at the intricate web making and construction material used !
