User's notes

Quite a lot around the tree, including more on the north not in the picture, and some sparsely mixed with grass as ground cover under it. Don't know how to chose the 'abundance' number in a case like this

Yes. I planted one plant of this species in my backyard. It now covers about 20 sqaure metres.

Haha, I just planted two little ones from Cool Country Natives in mine ... I guess it will have to be trimmed from time to time! Tho it has gone more nuts here than in some other places I've seen it.

My chickens previously liked feeeding on it. Its also very popular and closely grazed by King Parrots and Crimson Rosellas. They seem to be attracted to the salts/minerals? availlable from eating the foliage.

I guess with an ElNino around the corner the Einadia will shrink; it is a perennial with a woody root, often found under trees and it responds to wet conditions. I think parrots eat the tiny red fleshy fruits. I once cultivated the arid (non-local) saltbush in my garden and found that the parrots loved the fruits. Im not sure about the mineral content of Einadia nutans but assume it has a comparable content to other local plant species given the weather and soil conditions in ACT.

Yes, the parrots will eat the fruits but the fruits are somewhat rare given the close grazing the plant continually gets from the parrots. My Einada nutans plant seemed to spread unabated throughout the Millenium Drought, so I'm not expecting much of a decline!

I have mapped the location & took some pics of quite a few of them in the general area of this observation in a QField/QGis project (open source version of ArgGIS/Field), so I'll try to keep an eye on what happens.
