I reckon the fruit is euc.polyanthemos, not sure about the tree itself could be red box but its got the wrong vibe to it. Possibly Euc.elata

Yeah I agree, was mainly going off the tree itself. Fruit does look okay for E. polyanthemos

If there are anything else I need to get for ID, please let me know. Second photo is a young branch which came from the base of the tree. Other than that, I can only check the fallen fruits etc at its base.

Hard to know when it's a street tree.

If you could grab an image of the whole tree from a little further back so we can gage the way the branches form that would help. I checked the street tree index & apparently E.polyanthemos has been planted in this area which may explain the fruit.

I cheated and looked up the Canberra street Index - which had Eucalyptus polyanthemos for this street. I am confident re the fruit and general shape of leaves but stem doesn't look like our local trees. However seed may have been sourced from a population outside Canberra and it can be pretty variable
