This spider was in Monash grasslands and measured 80mm (from tip of leg to tip of leg). There was a vertical zig zag pattern in the web.

This is a female Argiope trifasciata - Banded orb-weaver.
A relative of the St. Andrews Cross spider (Argiope keyserlingi).
The zig-zag is made out of a substance called "Stabilimentum".
