Hi Michael! This morning I found that the mantid had fallen off the screen down onto the floor, and seems close to death. I picked it up and moved it to a better spot for photographs, and only got a slight twitching of one leg during the process, so it obviously wasn't 'alive and healthy' as I thought. I have now placed it amongst vegetation in the garden so it can fade away in safety (and also in dignity - all living things deserve dignity in death). Can I edit my post by adding today's three pics, which show extended wings and a close-up of the head (but are a different date to the 'sighting date'?) Also, I should probably change it from 'alive and healthy' to 'sick/injured'? Your advice would be appreciated.
