Hi Marchien, this single image of a hunched up carcass is not the ideal basis for a rodent record at a new site. I'm struggling to see that this is not a native Bush Rat (Rattus fuscipes), eg foot colour looks too light for Mastacomys and ears too prominent, fur colour more like R. fuscipes . On that type of site, both species could be present. Are you experienced with these two species? Did you collect the carcass? Were there scats with the carcass? Do you have other images? Any images can be uploaded - they do not have to have location embedded. Were there the characteristic runways of Broad Toothed Rats nearby? Pads on the hind feet are different if you have a pic of those.

Sorry not a new location actually. BTR has been recorded twice in CNM in a clearing not far to the SE of this location.

Several rodent experts agree this image is of R. fuscipes not Mastacomys.
