could it be a Dianella? Suggest wait and see flowers. Barb

Could be, but something looks off to me. Agree with Barb that its worth waiting.

None of the 3 local Dianella and not matrush - see serration of leave margins.

Might be something not local then, seems to be a fair few exotics spreading into this area.

Serrations on leaf midrib as well ...

My guess is an exotic plant. For about 3 years, Friends of Mt Majura observe young garden plants such as prunus and viburnum in the area, particularly under trees (bird perching sites) but also at this garden dumping site. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of garden waste dumping in the reserve east of The Fair mainly close to the entry at Tay and Ian Nicol Streets.

There are many exotic lily-like plants with leaves like this so really I'm not sure we can narrow down the ID much further unless it flowers.

It can't flower since, I must admit, I took it out together with all the viburnum, prunus and other exotics. It is a bit embarrassing really :-(

Oh well. If it wasn't a local species anyway its a good thing its gone then
