Hi Patrick, thanks, your suggested ID prompted me to look into Bembix more than I had before. There are over 90 species in Australia, many of which look very similar. Bembix palmata has greatly expanded fore tarsi (plate like front legs), and the research grade IDs on iNaturalist have very few yellow markings on the thorax, so I don’t think your wasp is a match - but I think we do have some amongst our Bembix observations
