Yes, this is considered a butterfly here in Australia but it is interesting to note that this is just a convention we use and it isn't the same everywhere. In other places the skippers are called moths. It says in the publication "Moths in the ACT" that the distinction between moths and butterflies is more historical and popular than scientific.
