Significant sighting

Tapirlord noted:

2 Jan 2023

New location of this nasty weed that we are trying to eradicate from the ACT.

User's notes

A new location for this invasive species, i.e further east than previous sightings in the agistment paddocks, and in the most biodiverse area of the woodlands.

These plants have been removed and bagged.
Thank you for noting the significance of this located cluster. I intend to return to other Potentilla recta locations in the area in the next few days.

Thanks Rosie, keep fighting the good fight with this one. It is becoming dominant across the monaro & we would like to avoid it here.

Ironically I have spent portions of each day recently cutting the flowerheads off St John's Wort in reserves that are special to me and our Landcare groups. (this won't kill the plants but at least a few million seeds won't reach maturity)
Thirty years ago a member of the Field Naturalists asked at a meeting "When is anything going to be done about St John's Wort?" The government of the day didn't have the resources to do anything about the embryonic infestations. Canberra is now the Golden City.
Did Potentilla recta reach the Monaro on vehicle wheels?
