I asked Jacqui Miles whether this was X. palustre (an endangered species) she replied. No way! X. palustre is quite a different animal, with a lax spreading habit - procumbent I think is the term with a spreading stem that turns upward at the tips, not erect from ground level. And it only grows in bogs.
