If there are no open flowers you can tear a flowerhead apart to see the colour of petals; yellow is Tragopogon dubius and purple is Tragopogon porrifolius subsp. porrifolius.
This one shows as Tragopogon sp. but is also in the collected sightings for Tragopogon dubius.
