Sorry Kevin - there is not enough information in the images to give a definitive ID on this one at a guess I would say that it is Slender Bee Fly -Australiphthiria hilaris

Yes I agree, lousy photos but it didn't hang around for more. I thought the double bands on the body might help. I was curious as to whether it was a fly or not so very happy with your comments.
