While you are probably correct I think we need to see the open flower to be sure. One to watch.

@DerekC how long do you reckon until this one flowers? Also seems to be a glitch that causes some photos to flip upside down when they're uploaded. Not sure how to flip them back once uploaded.

Ned if you are correct in it being C. atrovespa previous consensus would have predicted October, probably early October but in recent years some flowering as been several weeks earlier than expected. I assume that is some combination of above average winter rain and warmer temperatures but it maybe more complicated than that. While it not yet clear if flowering will again be earlier I am not yet seeing anything unusual. Regarding the upside down photos yours are not the only ones and my attempt to correct one failed so I suggest following Michael's suggestion and reporting as above.

I've reported the upside down photos. I'll check the site late sep - early oct, hopefully I can catch it in flower.
