This species (and it is mainly this subspecies) makes up a third of the diet of Canberra's Gang-gang population so Blue-gum plantings have an ecological benefit.

Thanks Michael. We do have quite a few Gang-gangs around the Watson Green Space.

Is this species still being removed in areas around Canberra because it is a fire hazard and invasive non-local species?

Possibly - I remember many years ago they were controversially removed from Blue Gum point on Lake Burley Griffin and self seeded saplings have and are being removed within Canberra Nature Park but not sure if any other mature trees have been removed.

A few mature/large trees have been cut down at Pine Island, but there is regrowth.
