Should we report feral bees in case of spread of varroa mite? They could spread the mite and would be hard to treat. Or, the mite might reduce the feral bee population.
The experience in NZ seems to suggest that if Varroa becomes widespread, apiarists will need to use miticides in their hives and feral populations will largely disappear.
