A native cockroach that occurs across the Murray-Darling Basin and is important for breaking down organic material such as the decaying log under which you found it or the surrounding leaf litter- returning nutrients to the soil and making them available to plants.

Thanks so much Michael - the kids will be delighted. They were very pleased to find a cockroach and we have already had a robust discussion about how cockroaches live not just in houses, but in the bush and what they do.
