Kim Pullen says this is a ladybird, possibly a Rhyzobius or a Bocolus sp.

Hi Trevor, @tpreston All these little black lady beetles are recorded under Coccinellidae sp on CNM. There is no further species definition. I don't have any entomology training, only what I've learned from CNM so can't define any further. Cheers. Alison
