I thought it may be this species too, but there is much greater gap between the two yellow marked areas in this species than in O. stereodyta. This moth has much 'cleaner lines' too. There is a black shoulder present in this specimen (not in O srereodyta) and a black costa in O. srereodyta which is absent here.

Thorax wrong colour too. The habit of the moth to me suggests Lithosiini, but it is like none of these that I know.

Yes, no luck yet

In Lithosiini there is the similar Licnoptera crocodora (not as good a match), but that moth is from Papua New Guinea and Queensland.

I've had a look too and to me it looks the most similar to Echinobasis halata but not quite the same. Could it be a different Echinobasis for which there are no photos?

Well done Katarina. I think there is a good match with two photographs on BOLD Systems 4 of this species E. halata from Queensland. See here :- http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Public_SearchTerms?query=Echinobasis[tax] There is also a NSW specimen in ANIC of the same species from roughly this latitude at ANIC but not as well marked. Subject to checking at ANIC Nevertheless, I'm going to suggest this species. The holotype is a specimen from the NMV in Melbourne (but again not as well marked) see on the ALA: https://biocache.ala.org.au/occurrences/a26a3ba6-f796-4da1-a641-b8805d7f3e21
