One part was so fragile, it fell off at the slightest touch and exposed brood.

Hi Kurt, you are probably right that this is Papyrius nitidus, but from the photos I can't be sure that it's not the undescribed species of coconut ant so have IDed it at the genus level. Cheers, Jon
