I think this is Grevillea acanthifolia, and in this region, it would likely be subsp. paludosa (depending on if it's been planted, either here or elsewhere in your area). I believe it is a threatened sp, (endangered under commonwealth). A good find :)

Leaf sections are to wide for G. acanthifolia

The shrub is in a depression below the wall of a small dam and is a sheltered position from all directions and with dappled shade.
This shrub wasn't planted but "appeared" about 6-7 years ago. I have scoured our property and there are no other bordering properties which have it either.
Would any other photos definitely identify this shrub? If so what would you want?

Looks like one of the garden hybrids, There's one of these in the Mongarlowe cemetery. Acanthifolia does not occur in this area. I suggest sending it to Peter Old.

The advice from Peret Olde was sought. Peter is the leader of the Grevillea Study Group in ANPS and is the authority of native and cultivars of this genus. He said "This is a hybrid for sure, of which there are several similar, among them G. ‘Copper Rocket’ which is what it most closely resembles. Another possibility is Grevillea ‘Phugnose’ an informative if not so delicate name given by a NSW nurseryman to a similar plant."
