Hi Liam, as usual with common names, they can lead you astray sometimes. Camponotus nigriceps and Camponotus consobrinus both have black heads and are generally similar looking. Camponotus consobrinus is known as the Banded Sugar Ant due to the band of yellow colour on the front part of the otherwise black abdomen (known as a gaster in ants), which you can see well in your photo. In Camponotus nigriceps the whole gaster is black. Cheers, Jon
