It's good that you obtained a clear image of the wing venation, which identifies it as the European Honeybee. If you look carefully at the eyes you will find that they have a lot of hair growing between the facets of the eye.

Other people have suggested carpenter bee because of the spot.
It appears to be covered in a fine dust, perhaps a fungus or mould?

Yes it is covered with something other than hair. It is possible that the hair has rubbed off in the middle of the back and the dust or mould has nothing to cling to in that area.
