Sorry about the poor quality photos, they were tiny less than 2mm, in rotten wood

Hi Simone, yes, it's not easy to get photos of these tiny ants in the field. As they are so small I can't really see the features I need to ID to even genus level. There are a few genera with very small ants like this in the region, including Tapinoma, as you have suggested, as well as Doleromyrma and Arnoldius, and I can't be sure from the photos. Cheers, Jon
