Thanks Harvey, how do I tell the difference? I chose A. cingulatus because of the strongly metallic green colour.

Yes - the metallic colouring can be misleading, as several species may appear metallic when freshly emerged. The Best key to pick a Metallic Ringtail, either male or female, is the "thumb tab" mark at the base of the first obvious abdominal segment - it is diagnostic. In our region, Metallic Ringtails appear to be virtually exclusively found in montane/alpine habitats for some reason.

Thanks, looking in the guide book I thought that mark was only on males. The females tend to get less coverage!
