User's notes

This butterfly landed on an ornament in my backyard & sunned itself for well over an hour while opening & closing its wings. No idea what it’s called so would love to know. The gold spots on its wings were incredibly bright. Unfortunately I couldn’t get better photos as it landed in an awkward area & I didn’t want to disturb it.

Thank you, Suzi. ๐Ÿ˜Š Looks like itโ€™s not an exciting find as they are quite common but happy to know what it is. The butterfly actually stayed at that position for almost 1.5 hours. Do you think it may have just emerged from its chrysalis? I note the brown on the lower wings were not unfurled.

I think Yellow Admirals are exciting, they're such a beautiful species. Hard to tell from the photos, but they breed on nettles if you have any nearby?
