I think the case for Dasygaster melambaphes (Black-on-black Armyworm) is stronger with this specimen. The black line extending from the forewing base is clearly visible. I note there seem to be two forms of the species shown on D. melambaphes on Bold Systems 4 - a very dark form with a white orbicular mark and this lighter coloured form. The lighter coloured form is the one shown for the ACT on Bold Systems and seems to correspond with the majority of samples for the species on the ALA's Species Inquienda - including the specimens attributed to Donald Hobern for Aranda in th ACT. Would there be objection to my creating a category for D. melambaphes or something like: 'D. dasygaster nr to D. melambaphes' for this sighting and sighting No, 377390? See: http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/hade/melambaphes.html .
