Thanks, Jon. I was discussing the image with my five year old grandson. He was particularly taken by the location of the eyes on the side of the head.
I had actually checked the image carefully to see whether it might be a beetle because it did not seem to be, in some indefinable way, totally antlike.
Anyhoo, happy with a wingless wasp!
