According to Rentz (1996) Nunkeria sp are confined to the Iron Range on Cape York. Gryllacridids are notoriously difficult to identify without a specimen and access to the National Insect Collection. Most of the local long-winged species appear to belong to the genus Hadrogryllus but even that may be incorrect. .
